Dustin Poirier (né le 30 décembre 1984) est un artiste martial mixte professionnel canadien qui participe à l’ Ultimate Fighting Championship . Il est l’actuel champion poids plume de l’UFC, ayant remporté le titre en février 2015.

Dustin Poirier est né à Manchester, New Hampshire, le 22 juillet 1988. Il a commencé sa carrière de combattant professionnel en 2005, lorsqu’il a remporté ses débuts professionnels en battant Jesus Soto Karass. Poirier s’est depuis battu pour les promotions WEC, UFC et Bellator MMA.
Poirier a épousé sa petite amie de 3 ans, Chanel Dillard en septembre 2012. Le couple a deux filles ensemble.

Il est né le 2 janvier 1988 à Port Charlotte, en Floride. Après avoir commencé à s’entraîner au jiu-jitsu brésilien à l’âge de 4 ans, Poirier a commencé sa carrière à 18 ans en remportant le championnat de jiu-jitsu de l’État de Floride en 2007. En 2008, il a remporté les championnats panaméricains de jiu-jitsu et s’est également classé deuxième aux championnats du monde.
Poirier a fait ses débuts à l’UFC contre Josh Neer le 12 novembre 2011 à l’UFC 153. Il a remporté le combat par décision unanime et a depuis défendu son titre deux fois contre Demian Maia et Carlos Condit respectivement. En février 2015, Poirier a été libéré de son contrat avec l’UFC pour signer avec Bellator MMA où il a combattu Douglas Silva de Andrade pour leur championnat des poids welters le 19 mai, mais a perdu par TKO au premier tour.

Poirier est né et a grandi à Scarborough, en Ontario. Il est d’origine haïtienne. Poirier a commencé à s’entraîner au jiu-jitsu brésilien à l’âge de 14 ans sous la direction de son père, André Poirier. Poirier a commencé sa carrière dans les arts martiaux mixtes en combattant chez les poids légers avant de passer au poids welter en 2009.
En 2010, Poirier a remporté le championnat des poids welters The Ultimate Fighter Canada 2 en battant Tom Lawlor en finale. Il l’a défendu contre Rick Glenn avant de le quitter pour rejoindre l’UFC.
Poirier a fait ses débuts promotionnels contre Josh Koscheck à l’UFC sur FX 1 le 8 août 2011. Il a perdu le combat par décision unanime.
Poirier a ensuite affronté Matt Brown à l’ UFC 143 le 17 janvier 2012. Il a remporté le combat via TKO en raison d’un coup de tête un peu plus de deux minutes après le premier tour.
Après une absence de deux ans de la compétition MMA, Poirier a affronté Jake Shields le 13 septembre 2014 à l’ UFC 171 . Poirier was born on May 24, 1989 in Coral Gables, Florida. At the age of 16, he won the Florida state championship in kickboxing. After only two years of amateur competition, Poirier turned professional in 2009 and compiled an undefeated record before signing with the UFC in 2013. In his debut fight for the promotion against Nick Diaz at UFC 162, Poirier emerged victorious by split decision and became an instant fan favorite.
In November 2014, it was announced that Poirier had tested positive for marijuana metabolites following his victory over Josh Thomson at UFC Fight Night 41. This resulted in a one-year suspension from the UFC which he served out between 2015 and 2016. Poirier returned to action in March 2017 as he faced Eddie Alvarez at UFC 211. He lost via unanimous decision but received « Fight of the Night » honors for his performance.
In February 2018, it was reported that Poirier had been arrested on suspicion of assault after an altercation at a nightclub in Oklahoma City two weeks earlier. Poirier was born on October 26, 1988, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. After playing football and wrestling at American Heritage School in Plantation, Florida, Poirier started training in taekwondo at age 10 to supplement his amateur wrestling career. He then began training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Eddie Bravo at 16 and later moved on to train under Ricardo Almeida at Team Alpha Male.
He made his debut as a professional fighter on August 29, 2006, competing for Elite XC. In his next fight on January 12, 2007, Poirier faced Tim Kennedy for the vacant WEC featherweight championship; Kennedy won by knockout in the first round. In March 2007 he faced fellow UFC newcomer Gleison Tibau for the promotion’s inaugural lightweight title; Tibau won via split decision.
